CJ, Your "Balanced Budget Amendment" post triggered a discussion at a local message board. Here are more facts revealing the deception of the Kerry ad:

<<The 17% increase in Soc Sec payment equates to $11.25 per month and will be more than made up in their annual cost of living increase effective Jan. 1. Not bad considering the skyrocketing costs of all of the new medical testing that seniors are demanding.
What's even funnier is that only 42% of the people who receive Soc. Sec. benefits are retirees. The rest are widows, children and the disabled. A large volume of the disabled include AIDS victims who present an extremely large burden on Medicare due to the costly drugs they require on a regular basis.>>
