I'm glad that you enjoyed Pipes' article. re

he also points out that moderate Islamists plan to use non-violent means to achieve their ends; e.g. all Islamists do not necessarily support Islamic Jihad nor their terrorist activities

While true, the moderate Islamists don't really catch our attention. The ones who think they have a sacred writ to kill anyone in any numbers, by whatever means avaible, have naturally caught our attention rather more.

<Those Islamists in the U.S. who through their actions support or finance terrorism should IMO be identified and extradited wherever possible. Unfortunately, the cries of civil liberties violations make that a most difficult undertaking.>

Until recently, many Americans were in favour of terrorism. For example, swarms of them gave various types of support to the dreaded IRA who conducted terrorist operations such as the Omagh bombing.

Chechen terrorists got support too, until Americans started getting their heads hacked off and Al Qaeda loomed large in a negative sense in USA psyche, rather than being heroic freedom-fighting mujahadeen fighting the Evil Empire. Suddenly, the mujahadeen became not freedom-fighting heroes, but hideous, cowardly, terrorist evil-doers. Oddly, they were the same people, doing what they always did = conducting Islamic Jihad.

It's good to see the USA starting to be against terrorism. There wasn't a peep from them when their buddies in the noocular bomb-club weapons of mass destruction gang, the French state-run terrorists, attacked the Rainbow Warrior. Schultz and co thought "Good job! That'll teach them not to get smart, rejecting our atomic bombs".
