Good posts - There is much that I like about both Bush and Kerry in the universe of politicians but much that I dislike about both. Why can't politicians just admit mistakes rather than creating layers of obfuscation.

Bush could have saved lots of wasted time by just saying, "What the heck, my dad wanted me around to run his campaign, not fighting in VietNam. It was wrong as those less privileged were not able to do that. This is a loophole that should be closed and I am sorry that others died while I was 'campaigning.' "

Kerry could have gotten to issues and saved lots of wasted time by saying, "I was a publicity seeker, caught up in the horrible emotions of the time. I didn't want to throw away my sacred medals but I symbolically did and that was wrong. I was indecisive and I realise that."

If either of these had been said, the honest politician would probably have a double digit lead.
