"This administration and the Republican Congress have presided over the biggest, most reckless deterioration of America's finances in history."

A quote from some liberal? Some Democrat? Nope, that is a quote from well known Republican stalwart Pete Peterson (Chairman of Blackstone Group and the Council of Foreign Relations) in the current issue of Business 2.0 October, 2004.

“Today,” Peterson writes, “so-called conservatives are out pandering LBJ. They must have it all: guns, butter and tax cuts.

MY COMMENT: PIMCO's Bill Gross, Morgan Stanley's Stephen Roach, former FED chairman Paul Volcker, Pete Peterson and others ... the voices warning of fiscal problems caused by the Bush administration are getting louder and the speakers more prominent.

The Republican Congress and the Contract with America was responsible for the decline during Clinton's years. The Democrat Party controlled Conress for over forty years before that. Ford vetoed more laws than any President before him. Carter upped the ante on vetoes. Reagan browbeat Democrats into funding miltary increases, and Star Wars. As wth all political discussions, concession came at a cost. Democrats reaped a windfall.

Democrats knew they had Bush 41 after the "Read My Lips" quote and sent him lard on top of pork. He could not veto every bill that Democrats sent him. They did a great job of tricking him with the double whammy wimimum wage increase. It tanked the economy for three years, and was well into the recovery when Clinton took over.

If you want to argue that Bush is spending to much, you are wasting your breath on me.

That is some great information. Thanks for contributing positively.
