The only opinion I voiced was that people will try to do what they consider in their best interests....

(I never argued that people of any particular age were 'smarter' then any other age.)

The general statement I referred to was this: "When governments wage futile, unnecessary wars ...young Americans will try to avoid them."

That seems rather common sense.

But L.L., you gave a nonsensical reply: "That might have some substance to it if you believe the judgement of an 18 year old teenager is better than that of a seasoned gov't leader. I don't. Do you?"

I noted that 'seasoned government leaders' aren't signing up to enlist in the armed forces, LOL. (Even if they didn't believe they had 'better things to do', they'd likely be TOO OLD.)

When you say that "you are likely to be better off having older and wiser heads that have seen more make these decisions", are you arguing for a DRAFT?

Re the Children's Crusade... yes, I know all about it (and it wasn't 'begun' by children, rather as a con by quite adult leaders... most of the children wound up sold into slavery). Surely that's not much of a 'counter' to my statement that people tend to act in their own perceived interests.
