The problem is this (aside from pandering that is): since 911, the Bush administration and the media has managed to make lots of hysterical twits in the US afraid of their own shadow...particularly if it looks like it's wearing a headscarf of some kind.

In this environment, belligerence rules. My question is, we spend $40 BILLION a year on intelligence. Where is that intelligence? We have spy satellites, paid informants, the NSA for goodness sakes.

Why don't we know for sure if Iran is enriching uranium for use in bombs? It's a country of 70 million people. Don't we have any spies anywhere? Don't we have any Iranians who are sufficiently worried about their own future and who would be in the know about such a major program?

It's not like making a widget or two, this kind of thing takes space, money, resources and lots of high-end manpower. Why don't we know...FOR SURE?

Or do we?

I can't tell if Iran is being made into some kind of weird bogeyman or it the threat is real. If Iran is some kind of a scapegoat, why in the world would we be making it the goat right now? We don't have the military manpower to do much about it anyway.

Ditto NK.

I find it really hard to believe that our government doesn't know exactly what is going on and where.
