re: I guess sleeping bag imprisonment is not acceptable under the Geneva Conventions. If they treated the generals this way, you can imagine what they did to the Iraqi grunts.

It makes me sick, and ashamed. Remember the days when we thought Americans held themselves to a higher standard? Maybe you don't, you are young. But there was a day when Americans would hate those soldiers worse than the enemy. That's the way I was raised, you were held to a higher moral standard. And someone that was fortunate enough to be an American, and broke that moral standard, was the worst. Pure scum.

I think the standard is still in place. However, someone gave those soldiers and the soldiers at Abu Graib etc permission to treat the Iraqis that way. Someone in the chain of command..........high up. It happened in Afghanistan; it happened in Iraq; and it happened in Cuba. Its not a coincidence.........its a reflection of the mindset of the people in charge. Think Ollie North.

They are being held to a standard, and since they are considered to have failed it in a way that makes them legally culpable they are being prosecuted and will face severe penalties if convicted.
