Do you want Americans brought before an international court and punished for not enforcing a ban on burning trash or brush in your back yard? no, of course not. however, i would expect that if it were deemed (heaven forbid) that americans were war criminals, they would be brought to trial and tried before your special multi-national courts put together to try war criminals. by opting out, the united states is saying you cannot try us for anything we do. i think this goes beyond breaking US laws when they are outside of the US when they do it. but is more about crimes against humanity. it is no wonder the u.s. wants no part of it, imho.
