In general I don't think being willing to veto bills is a bad idea.

No, Neo. Your religious fanaticism was noted long ago by many people.

Religious fanaticism??

Think about this a little. When Federal Aid To Education was started in the late 1950's, we were ASSURED by the feds that they would never put controls and conditions on that money. What is the current situation?

When the Federal Highway Program was started about the same time, the states were assured they would have control of things like speed limits. What has happened?

When Social Security was started, we were assured SSN's would never be used for national ID numbers. What has happened?

Federal subsidies of church programs may start with just really necessary controls on the use of the funds. And it will likely build to a point where half or 3/4 or 90% of a church's staff is dependent on that funding. Then the screws get turned.

That is a serious potential problem, and the possibility is the main reason why I am ambivilant about Bush's program. (If I was certain it would happen I would actively oppose the program).

...BRITISH POLICE used their best tracking equipment to locate a woman who they thought was being tortured but had still managed to dial 999 on her mobile.

However it turned out that it was just a couple who while having sex had accidently trod on the woman's mobile phone.

Officers at Durham in northern England became alarmed when the call came through to their headquarters in the middle of the night and all they could hear was what sounded like a woman crying with a man's voice in the background.

They traced the number and managed to locate the signal to an address. However when they knocked on the door it was answered by a disheveled couple who explained they were "messing around."...

Nader Supporters Blame Electoral Defeat On
Bush, Kerry
WASHINGTON, DC—Supporters of presidential candidate Ralph Nader blamed his defeat Tuesday on George W. Bush and John Kerry, claiming that the two candidates "ate up" his share of the electoral votes. "This election was stolen out from under Mr. Nader by Bush and Kerry, who diverted his votes to the right and the left," Nader campaign manager Theresa Amato said. "It's an outrage. If Nader were the only candidate, he would be president right now." In his concession speech, Nader characterized Bush a
and Kerry as spoilers.
