Proliferating SKUs at Best Buy. CIPA's August Report Points to Stronger-Than-
Anticipated DSC Unit Shipments. Two More Positives for SNDK.

• Visits to Best Buy reveals a proliferation in the number of SKUs on offer from
SanDisk, including reduced size flash cards (including T-Flash) in the camera
cellphone sections of the store. The brand is occupying more shelf-space in more
segments than previously. No other Flash product brand spans the range of
categories and capacities in this important N.American channel.

• Our visits to Best Buy also revealed an extensive range of 4 - 5 MPx DSCs on
display ahead of the holiday season, and a gradual increase in the storage capacity in
the MP3-player category (now topping out at 512MB). SanDisk should benefit
directly from the new DSC line-up, and indirectly from the use of higher-capacity
flash in embedded applications (SNDK is a relative beneficiary of tight NAND
supply).

• Separately, based on CIPA data, we note that August digital camera shipments came
in at 4.3 million units, beating our 3.9 million estimate by almost 8%, while
production, at 4.6 mm units, beat our forecast by 12%. 5MPX represented 37% of
total volume marking continued growth at the high-end of the market, which we
believe is good for SNDK given its likely cost leadership at 512MB cards and above.

• Reitarate Overweight Rating. SNDK is trading at 20.7 times FY04 EPS and 19.1
times FY05 EPS. Despite the recent appreciation, we believe the stock is still
undervalued going into the holiday ramp, though seasonality and potential cyclical
overcapacity in mid/late CY05 makes us cautious regarding holding SNDK for the
long-term.
