Neighboring countries told us he would use them on us and our commanders expected him to try. Even now we aren't sure some weren't moved to Syria or hidden somewhere. A few have actuallyl been found but because you can count them on your fingers and toes, it apparently doesn't matter - as if somehow Iraq only created a couple dozen sarin weapons and no more because that's all we've found. He did have programs giving him the ability to create WMD's in the future when sanctions were lifted. If there had not been war, we still would think there were WMD stockpiles there. And I'll just bet you Mr. Kerry would be blaming Bush for not resolving that danger - after all he'd given him the power by voting for the resolution. Add to that the fact the Clinton administration had insisted that AQ and Iraq had agreed to cooperate on WMD development. (See Richard Clarke's explanation for the Khartoum pharma plant bombing and the federal indictment against OBL.) Also add that Gore promised Iraqi regime change during the last election campaign. I guarantee you the people upset about the Iraq war would be upset that Saddam was still in power if Bush hadn't removed him. "It would be naive to the point of grave danger not to believe that, left to his own devices, Saddam Hussein will provoke, misjudge, or stumble into a future, more dangerous confrontation with the civilized world....He has supported and harbored terrorist groups, particularly radical Palestinian groups such as Abu Nidal, and he has given money to families of suicide murderers in Israel. ...We should not go to war because these things are in his past, but we should be prepared to go to war because of what they tell us about the future." John Kerry, 10/9/02 Senate speech
