It is impossible for a candidate to be elected president without lying.

For example, it is clear to all sentient beings that there is no way to "win" the war in Iraq. However, if Kerry were to say so, he could not get elected. Hence he must lie for the greater good of our nation, and claim that we will "win" in Iraq.

Yes indeed I talked to you about situational ethics. But political rhetoric is not situational ethics. Political rhetoric is where one campaign or one candidate is trying to gain personal advantage over another. And to me lying is not acceptable.

Take for example the Bush ad about "his voting for 87 million before his voting against it." That has to be seen in the context of his entire speech. For Bush to take that sentence in isolation is a lie and what is worse, it denies the right of the American people to know the truth. Bush is shielding them from the truth. In the situational ethics it is protecting the good from evil. Here it is impeding getting to the truth. The Bush campaign has agin taken Kerry's "global test" comment and is hard at work to twist it. But we all have watched the TV debate and know that we heard Kerry say clearly that he is not going to usurp his right to go to war to protect American interest. So no matter how Bush spins it, we know the truth.

You talk about the lies from Kerry / Kerry campaign. That is news to me.
