I don't think Kerry et. al think Americans are at all smart.

His "foreign policy" positions are contradictory and
make no sense.

As for "civil liberties," does he not favor the
World Criminal Court? After all, he is an avowed
"internationalist" and advocate of the UN. I personally
do not believe that a person favoring US support of
the World Criminal Court can at the same time favor
civil liberties for Americans.

That's just a few points.

I just think Kerry is an opportunist of the first order
who never had a heartfelt belief EXCEPT that America's
interests should be subjugated to the rest of the
world. That's been the one thread of continuity in his
life. Aside from that, he'll say anything depending on
his audience...JMO
