Look at Bremer's track record in Iraq -- he was a disaster. I am not surprised that he is willing to tell the truth about how bad things were when he arrived because it partly explains his lousy situation at the time, and I am not surprised that he tries to paper over the tragedy of this failed invasion/occupation and its prospects in order to salvage something in the relationship to the Republicans who are his only friends, if indeed he has any friends left at all at this point. Lying and doubletalk have become the chief modes of expression in the Administration.
