Wait, there's Moore, Michael Moore '9/11' DVD bows along with two tie-in books By PAMELA MCCLINTOCK NEW YORK -- As the vice presidential candidates prepare for tonight's debate at Case U. in Cleveland, Michael MooreMichael Moore's "Fahrenheit 9/11" will be released today on DVD, along with two books tied to the hit documentary. But Moore won't take the typical route to promote his book with a flood of national TV appearances due to his latest political venture -- the Slacker Uprising Tour, a 60-city journey designed to get young people to vote. Moore will appear Wednesday on ABC News' "Good Morning America" to promote "The Official Fahrenheit 9/11 Reader" and "Will They Ever Trust Us Again? Letters From the War Zone," a collection of letters written by U.S. soldiers stationed in Iraq and their families. He made his first official book plug Monday when appearing on Howard SternHoward Stern's radio show. He's also skedded to appear on NBC's "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" later this month. Both books were fast-tracked by publisher Simon & Schuster to coincide with the release of the "Fahrenheit" DVD. Moore collected the letters appearing in "Will They Ever Trust Us Again?" while making "Fahrenheit 9/11." Publisher ordered a healthy first run of 600,000 hardback copies. "Editorially, it's a new part of Michael's message," said Simon & Schuster associate publisher Aileen Boyle. The official reader is being published as a trade, with a first run of 250,000 copies. Moore's "Slacker" tour will prove ripe ground to promote his books and DVD. All told, he will have covered two cities a day through the swing states by the Nov. 2 election. Publisher says he's getting deluged with interview requests from local media. Meanwhile, tonight's showdown between VeepVeep Dick Cheney and Democratic opponent John Edwards will be carried live on the major broadcast nets save Fox, as well as on the cable news nets PBS and C-SPAN. ABC, CBS and NBC will preempt regular programming from 9-11 p.m. ET. Fox will carry baseball playoffs.
