Even if you agree that invading Iraq was the right thing to do, it's clear that the post-war operation was terribly planned and poorly executed. The pitfalls of this situation were widely understood prior to going in. Perhaps if Bush bothered to read, or listen to anyone's opinion but his own, we might have faired better.

What was the rush to go to war? Clearly, before the invasion military analysts had figured out that Iraq was not the threat Bush, Cheney, Tenet and others were making it out to be. As you well know, Bush had fingered Iraq for attack in the immediate aftermath of 9/11. Doesn't that show poor judgement? Afghanistan, Pakistan and Saudia Arabia would be the countries that stand out as threats to United States, not Iraq which had been weakened by years of sanctions. Military pressure could have been brought to bear on Iraq without a full scale invasion and without the loss of more than 1,000 American lives.
