With talk radio currently averaging about 22 minutes of commercials per hour, I fear there may not be much left once commercials are eliminated. <g>

But seriously, Tivo is currently having a hard-enough time becoming profitable in the sunnier TV landscape that I doubt that anyone is seriously proposing a Tivo for radio. Also note that Tivo does not actually have a commercial skipping feature. Rather, it lets you easily fast-forward past the commercial. A competitor, ReplayTV, did offer such a feature where it did not record commercials. Paradoxically, the company went into chapter 11, I believe. Tivo has chosen a less confrontational approach to the broadcasting industry.

Tivo is certainly a well-loved brand. Own the product, but not the stock currently, though I have owned TIVO stock in the past. I would love it even more if I were happier with what there is to watch on TV.

All in all, a long TIVO, short VIAB might be a reasonable pair trade on technology trumping old media.
