Actually I think the exact saying was that Christianity was the biggest myth perpetrated on mankind.. and if my memory serves me correctly it was said by an expatriot ..Gore Vidal. He lives in Italy . He wrote a very interesting epitaph to Tim McVeigh whom I think he interviewd prior to Mc Veigh's execution... Hope I am correct on this.

"So in the end is this a war for oil,land, hearts and minds of people or is it another religious war... " All of the above, plus a little over zealous patriotism and ego on the side. I'd have to take exception to the "religious" part of that. Not many years before, the US intervened in the Yugoslavian mess essentially on the side of the Muslims. I think anti-Muslim feeling plays far less of a role in this than those other matters and the influence of the Jewish Lobby on the US gov't, which has to do with the security of Israel. Remember, the US is supportive of and essentially allied with the Saudi gov't, the very home base of Islam.
