No. They want the marriage part to become entitled to benefits, medical, death. They don't want to be excluded from the hospital if their loved ones are dying. Marriage gives them this license. Edwards' plan to change the laws so that those involved in long-term relationships without the benefit of marriage would still be beneficiaries. And I agree, marriage is a union between a man and a woman, NOT a man and a man or a woman and her dog.
