As I mentioned earlier, catch this month's Atlantic. There's a great piece on what they term "forensic theology." The foot soldiers don't do things without marching orders (fatwas) from their clerics, and the other groups have not received fatwas giving them permission to attack within the U.S.. It makes sense. -Z
