OK we can agree about Saddam it looks like, but not that internationalist business.

Was the international pressure on Saddam in mid-2002 really immense as it seemed from headlines? I've read the Iraq Survey Group's final report (which is being touted re. WMD's) also said Saddam had a bribery campaign using oil-for-food sales to influence France, Russia, and China to give him protection. I'll have to look into that more when I have time but I think its credible - there were all those oil development deals as well with French, Russian and Chinese companies as well. So that would mean the internationalist pressure was a sham - the fix was in.
