I think ANY president should go right into unilateral talks with N. Korea. This bilateral crap that Bush is insisting on is only making things worse.

You mean multilateral. Disagree. The only influence on NK is China. We can't get them to do anything w/o China's help - either by playing nice or tough.

Taking out NK nuke sites is not the way to go because of the proximity to China . . . no need to get into nuclear conflict with them. But maybe we need to be tougher on China to push them to put the squeeze on NK.

Problem there is Chinese power conflict between Jemin and Hu (if I remember the name right) - don't want to push hardline into seizing power. Better to let the hardline figure fade away - time for pressure will be when they are governed by a Chinese version of Gorby, which Hu may turn out to be. Hope I remembering the new guys name right.
