Small business is started by individuals. That's why they and their small business would be hurt by Kerry's plan. Most start their small business as a sole proprietor...

Remember Bill Gates and Paul Allen were once upon a time a small business too.

In WA state, in addition to all the other State taxes, we also have a Business and Occupation tax....in lieu of a State Income Tax, or so they say. The B&O tax is 1.5% to 2.5% of your GROSS, Not your net after expenses and forget about profit.... So if you bring in $100,000, but your business expenses are $120,000....you pay B&O on the $100,000 you bring in.

What the Bush ad refers to is Kerry's proposal to raise taxes on individuals making more than $200,000 per year.
