Safire is partisan. He's spouting propaganda. Kerry isn't a Neocon. Safire's ridiculous definition is that questioning the decades long close business and personal ties between the Bushes and the Saudis and the Saudis support for terrorists (that's NO SECRET, even the admin admits that) makes someone a Neocon?

That's pure propaganda and you're buying it.

Everyone knows that the reason for high oil prices include: political conflict with Yukos, problems in South America, war in Iraq, high demand from China (9% GDP!), high demand from the US (SUVs and such), fraud when it comes to supposedly limited refinery capacity, etc. etc. The people who do the best when oil prices are high aren't the ones who have the oil (SA has 30% unemployment and a steadily declining standard of living in comparison to us), they're the BIGOIL companies. Bush's cronies.

Safire is an idiot. He used to have a decent reputation but he's descended into propaganda whore territory. Safire doesn't have a single clue as to the situation with terrorism, geopolitics, the problems in SA or the economics of oil.
