Henry, a (very) pregnant lady (3rd trimester) with asthma that works in the semiconductor industry told me she waited in line for 2 1/2 hours at Walgreens only to be declined the flu shot. Her doctor told her to get the flu shot, but her clinic/hospital doesn't have any supply because their batch from CHIR has been cancelled, so he forwarded her to Walgreens, but Walgreens declined her because she was pregnant.

They are declining flu shots to all pregnant women, quite to the contrary of CDC guidelines. They told her this after she waited in line for 2.5 hours. The nurse said it's their company's policy (Maxima, the company that gives the flu shots at Walgreens) to not give pregnant women the flu shot and that she has never given a flu shot to a pregnant women before, not because of the shortage but because of the company's perceived risk in doing so (because it contains mercury). I personally think women in their 2nd or 3rd should definitely get the flu shot, but not in their 1st due to the mercury.

The clinic/foundation that handles the south Bay Area in CA (Silicon Valley), where companies like Cisco and Intel are located, do not have any vaccine for the flu shot. Neither does Longs Drug. Only place to go is Walgreens where they declined to give pregnant women the flu shot. She said she can get a note from her doctor and then they might be able to give her a flu shot, so she gets to wait in line again. What a mess for people.
