Not at all. They were used to following orders, and this is an opportunity for fame.

The real test of leadership is whether Kerry's peers support him and would choose him as their leader. Instead of doing that, they formed Swiftboat Veterans for Truth. And, now the POW's who Kerry betrayed have joined them to make it Swiftboat Veterans and POW's for Truth.
