Suffice it to say that Cheney was mean-spirited. Besides he is getting on in years and is prone to lapses in his memory.

Exactly. Edwards met Cheney briefly at a Senate prayer meeting. Why would Edwards constituents in NC refer to him as "Senator Gone" if they were not outraged at his habitual absence. So far Edwards has only served 4yrs of his term but has been absent for most senate sessions as a result of campaigning 1st for Dem primary and currently for presidential race.
