Ted, I think between 100 and 200 years. I think issues like global warming and the depletion of the world's fisheries will push it along.

The resolution of those issues are pipe dreams. China, for instance, will start contributing tremendously to greenhouse gases, while fishing is a vital part of the economies of many nations.

Pipedreams? Not if the weather starts to heat up significantly. Both poles are beginning to melt very quickly. Water levels in the oceans are rising. Most significant world cities are found in coastal regions. Flooding could become a very serious problem. Already, Venice is feeling the effects.

As for the fisheries, some are already close to depletion. Some nations are not respecting their quotas. You can't fish if there are none. Its as simple as that. Fish farms are becoming more and more popular up here.

But going back to world government, the thing that will ease it along is interracial and intercultural marriages, as well as the globalization of pop culture like sports, movies, and other activities. Of course, that's not a trend that can occur within one or two generations.

All of those things will help it along.
