In the vice presidential debate, Senator Edwards continued to run from his record as a trial lawyer and the records of he and Senator Kerry in the Senate. When asked by Gwen Ifill about rising healthcare costs and lawsuits, Senator Edwards had a surprising response, "We do have too many lawsuits."
