Open Letter to President George W. Bush

OK!

Here is my version. E-mailing to the White House tonight.

Dear Mr. President,
In the event that Kerry wins may I suggest the following:

Join with the American majority and accept the Kerry view that we should not have invaded Iraq.

Join with the American majority and accept the Kerry view that Saddam Hussein was no threat.

Join with the American majority and accept the Kerry view that we should withdraw our troops from the Mideast as soon as possible.

Then Mr. President, on Nov 3rd 2004, order all American forces to leave the Mideast immediately, and offer President Allawi and his staff asylum in America.

Then Mr. President, make a final gift to the American Kerry majority and the Muslim world. The day before the Kerry inaugural, and in the finest Clinton and Democratic tradition, order the release of the no-threat Saddam Hussein and declare his reinstatement as the leader of Iraq.

Then Mr. President move to Northern Idaho. Your friends will love having you as their neighbor.

They acknowledge fiscal health could include spending cuts but only recommend tax increases. By this they reveal they are more interested in left wing politics than economics.

Expenditure cuts could be part of the answer, but your record so far has been one of increasing expenditures, not reducing them.

What is called for, we believe, is a dramatic reorientation of fiscal policy, including substantial reversals of your tax policy.

No mention whatsoever that Bush was president during the conclusion of the bursting of the biggest stock market bubble in the 20th century (which began under Clinton), and also the aftereffects of 9/11.

No mention whatsoever that unemployment is still a tad more than 5%, which is historically an extraordinary percentage. During the last major recession it was more like 10% (IIRC).

No mention whatsoever that interest rates are historically low, and that the housing market remains historically strong.

No mention whatsoever that real income has actually increased.

Like Rodney Dangerfield, Bush gets no respect.

Maybe the professors are not mendacious but young, and believe that booms never end all on their own, rather than the truth - all booms end, for reasons no president can control.

How did you find this open letter? There is no main web site. Just this letter. Who sponsors this "open letter".... Are you one of the people listed on the "list"?

I read this open letter carefully. At least 4 times.

Did anybody else notice that the "learned" professors, while they were lavishly castigating, smearing, and criticizing President Bush for all of his policy failures that have caused:
....Bankruptcies are up sharply
....U.S. economic policy has taken a dangerous turn under your stewardship
....Nearly every major economic indicator has deteriorated since you took office
....Total non-farm employment has contracted
....The percentage of Americans in poverty has increased
....create additional pressure for higher interest rates – by stoking inflationary expectations
....he income gap between the most affluent Americans and everyone else has widened
.... your tax policy has exacerbated the problem of inequality in the United States
....Real GDP growth during your term is the lowest of any presidential term in recent memory
[I could go on and on but why bother?]

....yes, lavish with the criticism they were, yet they suggested NOT ONE SINGLE F____G SPECIFIC RECOMMENDATION FOR HOW TO REVERSE THESE HUGE PROBLEMS!!!!!!!

The closest that they could come was the vanilla pablum recommendation of:

a dramatic reorientation of fiscal policy, including substantial reversals of your tax policy

Fascinating. Here are these scores of "learned" professors of economic theory who have not suggested one damn thing of specifics to do anything. Reverse tax policy? How? Raise taxes on everybody? Or only on the "rich"? Raise taxes on the small business man, who creates most of the jobs? Return to the 90% top bracket, pre-Reagan? Increase the social security tax? Gasoline tax? Corporate tax rate? Eliminate home interest deduction? Cut spending on education? Eliminate the Department of Energy? of Education? Eliminate anti-missile defense? Pull out of Iraq now? Reduce foreign aid? WHAT?

This open "letter" is one of the worst examples of Monday-morning quarterbacking that I have ever seen. Worse, it isn't really even that. It is simply a screed of bash-Bush, liberal-high-tax-big-government policy. That's all.

Pure and simple: this "letter" is nothing but garbage.

And the scariest thing of all is, that this crap is what is being drummed into the heads of our youth.
