You are usually very reasonable. This trait is restrained in your post.

If we can do both, then we will be better off by twice. NIMBY environmentalists have traction only among themselves. We have the oil. It will not displace people. Why do we need to keep a place pristine that had maybe a dozen tourists in the 100 years before the NIMBY's made it an issue? There are a million other acres just like it you can visit instead. Callous, maybe, realistic, yes.

No roads in forests mean new massive forest fires destroying millions of acres of forest instead of trees for homes, furniture, and other things. Perhaps it is better to level a rainforest that is NIMBY!

The slander about fear mongering gets ignored.
