This might have something to do with gut flora,
gross but interesting...at least to me.

I had do take a few doses of a laxative--Fleet
(to prep for a colonoscopy). I don't know if
this strips the good bacteria out of your gut,
but it seems to be awfully harsh on the system.

Anyway, I had a little sore throat a day before
I took the laxative, but apparently I was
fighting it off okay--I felt fine the next
day, and it did not occur to me to put off
the procedure. I took the Fleet, and within
two hours of that stuff passing through my
system, I was down with a fever, temp 101F.

Naturally, hoping I would be okay the next morning
I didn't take any pain medication for the body
aches, whew, that was rough. Still running a fever
the next morning, I ended up missing the procedure.
Nasty! And now I have to go through the gut bomb
again.

A healthy intestinal track seems to be awfully
important! Of course coming down with the flu
and taking the laxative may very well have been
coincidental, but one wonders.
