Cheney was indeed evacuated, as was Rice and the rest of the WH. Secret Service followed their contingency planning to the letter. And I'll betcha they didn't all go to the same place.

Clarke continue to hang out at the White House. I really doubt that he was the only one left. Cheney and Rice were most likely together.

See, if all the eggs are in one basket... and the basket drops...

The biggest all the eggs in one basket moment is at the State of the Union. You wipe out Congress, the President, the Vice President, the White House staff, and nearly all of the Cabinet. Typically, there is one person [Cabinet member] in the line of succession that's off watching the TV somewhere else.

This particular exercise [My Pet Duck} is so far removed from the requirements of Contintuity of Government that it's misplaced to even mention it.

Today's impressive multi-syllabic word is e•mur•jint•see.

Sounds Arabic to me.....are you a terrorist? <s>

It's interesting that you keep mentioning that they have telephones in Nebraska. Evidently, Dick Cheney didn't know that, as he never even tried to call Bush while giving orders to shoot down commercial airliners. (He claims to have called, but there are no records and no one with him recalls his making the call...another Cheney lie).

The reality is that Bush ran, and Cheney (the "acting" President) wanted him out of the way during a crisis.
