check your history! The way I remember my history is that the declaration of war by Britain and France was a joke. They declared war, then they sat on their butts waiting for Hitler to attack. And given that they had a mutual defense pact with Poland, when Hitler attacked Poland, he effectively attacked France and Britain. In any case, the point is not who attacked first. It's that Britain was fighting for its life, and not fighting was not an option, alone or not.
