The Dalmatian islands are an absolute treasure - the coast almost seems mundane in comparison. If you are there with a car, drive out the Peljesac peninsula then take the ferry to the next island. Otherwise take the big ferry from Split to Hvar.

I still remember a sunny May morning on Hvar, sipping coffee and watching the dolphins swim by.......

I really appreciate the recommendations- and we'll be there. I'll let you know how it goes- and if we get a period of brightness. I'm in Scotland, where those periods can be few and far between now- so we're used to it.
