Were Kerry to fixate solely on the french as allies, or any combo of euros only, that would be a mistake, sure ... but the world is bigger than that, there's more to the Rest of Us ... how about the canucks ... think about it, that's pretty bad when you can't get your cousins who live next door to go in on your projects ... and look at history, you do well when you keep onside with us, as in the great and second wars, and very badly when you get off the trail, as in 1812 and Viet Nam ... your wisest course is clear, you should be patient and let us pick your wars for you, and stay right by the phone waiting for our call

Canadians will never support a Bush, ever ... too threatening to Peace Order And Good Government, too reminiscent of other swaggering over-armed wannabe strongmen from the south ... so since Nader is a joke candidate, who does that leave in your election - Kerry ... we support Kerry, he does not smirk and he is Not-Bush, so we find him preferable, so far

One thing i find amazing about US election coverage [just spent half an hour scanning headlines and excerpts], is the lack of focus on the economy, on the way that Bush admin has strayed from the more sensible of supposedly-Republican principles, like fiscal responsibility .... the deficit, hoo-hah, that is impressive man, it's the elephant in the room, that nobody is talking about

Yes i supported Saddam being kicked out of Kuwait .... peace of Westphalia has got to be respected, let's not anybody cross borders with their tanks without good reason AND WITHOUT A QUORUM OF DEMOCRACIES ONSIDE ... ahem .... there were concerns, like gratuitous slaughter on the Highway of Death, after Saddam had been kicked out of Kuwait, but it was necessary that he be dealt with, and overall it was reasonably well done imho .... largely because Bush I was a far better builder of alliances than is his son ..... that 1990-1 effort earned the US a profit, by the way, allies contributed slightly more in cash than the US spent on it in toto .... it pays to have allies ... 'Read my lips, It's the economy stupid'

... much later ..... cheers
