You do realize that at least a third of those voting next month have no memory of Viet Nam? Viet Nam to them is like WWII, "The Big One" to me... they might hear their parents or grandparents talk of it, and it might have been in their high school history book, but that's about it. The more Swift Vet ads they see... the more they're going to wonder if Bush isn't like that Japanese soldier who hid out on some island for 35 years after the war ended before surrendering. By not publicly repudiating the ads Bush is endorsing them, his platitudes about Kerry's service ring hollow. Younger voters are going to wonder if it's smart to have a President still fighting a war that ended 35 years ago - while bungling the current war.
