Bush and John Kerry, but on the actions of central bankers and investors around the world." Hard to disagree with that. However, it seems to me that they are all content just to let things continue as they are. Since no-one actually knows what to do, and all "cures" are equally bad, no-one wants to be held responsible for doing anything drastic. So one hears the same "end of the world" stories repeated time after time but without anything actually being done. Meanwhile, the USD drifts, the Dow drifts and interest rates drift -- and the "Punch-and-Judy" show takes the peoples' attention. >"One way or another, the U.S. economy may not be able to run for ever leveraged to the hilt, with oil prices surging and a weak job market threatening consumer confidence. Eventually, Leamer says, interest rates will rise more sharply and the economy will head south. "This will happen sooner rather than later," he says. "Probably 2006." I suppose his guess is as good as anyone's? I do agree, however, that the escalating oil price is going to have a bad effect -- which surely means having to pay for the oil with more debt, as well as for all the boat-loads of Chinese trinkets. So the debt will rise faster -- but, as before, with no intention of ever being repayed. > "Foreign governments finance a growing share of U.S. trade deficit". And what else are they to do? If they don't buy the debt, they don't sell their trinkets -- and Americans have an insatiable appetite for trinkets. Brings to mind how the early Dutch settlers bought Manhattan from the local Indians with beads and other shiny objects. Now the boot is on the other foot -- the Chinese are buying the United States from the settlers with electronic gizmos! > "Qassam ambulance". After this mistake, who will ever believe Israel's "photographic evidence" against the Palestinians - or the Syrians or Iranians? LOL. I don't believe anyone believes anything Israel says now. In fact, I'm actually surprised that Israel even goes to the trouble of manufacturing propaganda. They may as well just exterminate the Palestinians and be done with it. Whatever happens, the Palestinians will be blamed for their own demise, so the Israelis may as well get on with it as, in fact, it seems they are doing.
