Of course they would... if the Senate stays in Republican hands (as I think the odds are about 70-80% for) then objectionable nominees wouldn't even make it out of committee, would never even get a floor vote.

Well, I sure don't think that was a better way then direct elections! (Have you looked at the sleaze in your typical State legislature recently?)

I'm with you on that one. In the beginning, 'two Senators, one State' was a sorta admirable feature designed to prevent 'mob rule' and help counter-balance the predictably shorter-tempered House of Representatives.

But, in the years since, as the population disparity between the smallest and largest States has increased so much, I fear that 'design feature' of our Constitution has become more of a 'design problem'.
