Re UN Food relief: This would NOT have been necessary if it had not been for this: About 1.45 million Sudanese are IDPs and another 200,000 live as refugees in neighbouring Chad because of brutal attacks against civilians by Janjaweed militias and fighting between Government forces and two rebel groups.

As long as you're on a roll about the UN...According to this, the entire world community should have gone into Iraq...unless the entire world thinks it is just fine for hundreds of thousands of people to be murdered by a murdering tyrant....

<b >Under international laws on humanitarian aid, refugees, and human rights, people have the right to assistance and protection, even when their governments or rulers are unable or unwilling to provide it.

Moreover, during the past decade, people's rights and their realization has become a central debate in the United Nations Security Council, especially about Bosnia, East Timor, Kosovo, and Somalia.
