FRANKFURT (AFX) - Industrial output fell a seasonally-adjusted 1.0 pct in August from July, and was up 3.6 pct year-on-year when adjusted for the number of working days, according to preliminary data from the Labour and Economy Ministry. Economists polled by AFX News had forecast on average a month-on-month decline of 0.5 pct

The ministry said output rose a revised 1.2 pct in July from June. It said the timing of the summer school holidays this year may have influenced the development of industrial output. A breakdown of the preliminary August data showed manufacturing output fell 0.7 pct month-on-month. Energy output was down 2.7 pct in August, while construction output fell 2.2 pct, the ministry said. On the two-month average, industrial output rose 0.1 pct in July/August from May/June
