ME. I think that the sanctions and inspections regimes would have faded away like and old soldier. That could have been caused either by saddam acting up with the euros backing down or just a determination that there was nothing more to be done because nothing was found--in essence back to business.


Sorry Michael, that's not credible. Lest you forget, there are still tons of UN troops in Bosnia years after the fact. There were cameras in North Koreas's nuclear facilities until relations broke down. There have been US troops on the board of North and South Korea for DECADES.

Lifting sanctions would have serious conditions. No one would let a madman like Saddam play in his sandbox without supervision.
