Saddam is sitting in an Iraqi jail. He has no civil rights (at least no more than anyone else in that country). Don't you think the interrogators have dosed him with our most effective truth serums, used every other method to break down any dissembling he may have done? Those CIA guys are good at such stuff. I do. If not, why not? The report on Wednesday included coroboration by Saddam on most of the major points...including the decline of the WMD programs. If he shipped out the WMD, wouldnt this have been a line of inquiry that would have been followed? If there was hard info that he had weapons and shipped them to Syria or anyone else, wouldnt't we have heard about it?

i don't think they were lying. i've always said that i think that believe honestly believes he is/was doing the right thing.

i do think they exaggerated and overemphasized the threat purposefully to gain support for the accelerated timeframe for the invasion.
