I wrote some code back in the sixties that used a 2-digit year. It was totally beyond our comprehension that any such software would still be in use 30+ years later.

None of what I wrote was, but believe me, Y2K was no hoax.

correct but greenspan kept feeding money into the system vs shutting down rates. economy and stock market kept exploding.
