WHat they actually said was they welcomed the Americans with open arms . However, an uncle was mistakenly picked up and imprisoned in Ah Garhib and later killed there and they didn't find out for a year .. And a Grandmother was killed. However, they were not even complaining about that. WHat they were talking about was the now moment. Regardless of what Saddam did they are now living in worse conditions. THey were not denigrating the U.S. or our troops. They just wished we would leave and let them to their own devices. At this juncture they just believe rightly or wrongly that whatever happens there could not be worse.
