I believe that the principle of jus sanguini rather than jus soli has been a long standing doctrine of all Chinese governments.

Other than the reason you summered up, there are important things that are missing. Europe countries, Russia, Taiwan, Mexico all adopt the dual citizenship.

As for Yuan appreciation, it will come sooner or later. That makes those come here only to earn for the dollar become less meaningful and more regretful when they see their buying power reduce 10-20% instantly and some of their old friends are now a millionare in China.

LOS ANGELES, California (Reuters) -- Canadian-born comic actor Jim Carrey has become a U.S. citizen and said his decision to pursue dual citizenship was based on his love for the country that helped him attain his dream.

"This country has helped define me and make my dreams come true," said Carrey, 42, in a statement.
