I thought Kerry's "no new taxes except for the rich" pledge was pretty clever.

If the republicans control Congress there's no way in hell he can get a tax increase through anyway, so the point will be moot. When they refuse to roll back for the over $200,000 tax cut he can use it as an excuse for the ballooning deficit.

Kerry's momentum is probably not reversible .....

.......... especially given the growing chaos in Iraq. It's becoming clear to me that Bush will only win if he can steal the election.

Kerry's stature next to Bush in this last debate was astonishing to me. Only Bush diehards really buy his nonsense at this point.

Basically, events are destroying Bush and Kerry is coming across as a "presidential" alternative. It's looking exquisite.
