Apparently you have never spent some time in SE Asia or set foot on Australia. If you had, you would have come to the inescapable conclusion that John Howard is a hypocrite-cum-racist-cum-bigot extraordinaire. While outwardly declaring himself to be a friend of Asians, he is in reality a racist and a bigot, and it is his hypocrisy and tacit racism and bigotry that have sustained him in power all these years. It is not that Australians are as smart as you have made them out to be. The majority of Australians are racists. White Australians have been racists since early times when shiploads of criminals and undesirables were shipped/exiled to Australia to begin colonization of that continent. Which means that lots of Australians or Ozzies today, including John Howard, are descendants of unsavory characters! Imagine Australia has such a psychic biography!!! By the way, about 40 to 50 years ago, Australian invited white Britishers (Brits) of the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland) to settle in Australia at its own expense. Many Brits were pleased to accept the offer which guaranteed them a free passage (both ways) in case they were not satisfied with their new environs. As it turned out, the majority of them went to Australia ostensibly as immigrants: they returned to the United Kingdom after enjoying a fully paid for summer holiday in that much hallowed Down Under land at the expense of the Ozzie government. LOL! Today Australia realizes only too well as never before that it cannot survive without its Asian neighbours and its vulnerability forces it maintain ties with the UK and US. To be sure, Australia exhibits flip-flopping tendencies. Too return to the USA: I don't deny the possibility that Bush could still win on November 2nd. But if he does win, America will be the laughing stock of the world: the whole world will know that fear, gullibility, ignorance and bigotry and whatnot were mainly responsible................... The re-election of Bush might well signal the beginning of the decline of America. Verily, the history of mankind is replete with the rise and fall of civilizations, empires and superpowers!
