No, he went to war based on the intelligence that was available at the time. Kerry agreed with him at the time, but it's Kerry who is now armchair quarterbacking in hindsight. That's really easy to do, isn't it? The inspections were coming to an end, and would have ended. Saddam retained his ability and intent to produce WMD's, and intended to do so as soon as the inspections ended. If a drug dealer flushes his current stash down the toilet when the police come knocking, planning to go out afterwards and re-stock his supply, does that mean he's not a drug dealer any more?

Cirrus. Interesting that you use the word " WE " in your statement....." So, we were dead wrong about the existence of WMD but are absolutely correct about "future intent"?..... I am making an assumption that using the word " WE " indicates that you also believed that sadam had WMD? And now it appears you say it was wrong to remove sadam. IMO it could be considered a mistake to use WMD as one reason to invade Iraq but President bush was not wrong to remove sadam given the information he had to base his decision on. Like Bush has said.... it was his TOP priority to protect America and Americans no matter what the political fallout would be....He was aware that most of the liberal world was against His decision yet His top priority was protecting Americans and I believe this is what you would want in a President. Apparently all the world thought sadam had WMD as did the USA.
