<<The market had been distoryed, and is now into a two year bull market. >>

Agree with 2/3 of that <g>..yep market was destroyed...yep, 2003 was a good year for the bulls with very nice gains on many issues...but 2004 has been very deceptive...Index stocks are holding up fairly well, which is obvioulsy keeping the major indices from tumbling....The index stocks have great power on the perception of the overall market, but I dont think you can look at a handful of stocks to get a good idea of overall health of the entire market...Look how much Merk dragged down the dow that one day, while most other dow components had a good day....Works both ways...people are scared...people are trying to stay with safe stocks, safe MF's and etc....Thats why the major indices have held up...but if you look at a broad view of 2004, you will see a far larger number of companies that went down, then went up...and many went down HUGE %'s.....Still a mess out there and I certainly do not consider 2004 to be a bullish year at all unless you have very few holdings and were lucky enough to hold the ebays of this world and not the ones that went down 25 - 75% this year, of which there were many.......Have a great sunday....It's a shame all this negative economic data may dampen what could be ( knocking on wood as I type <g>) a decent earnings week for some bellweather companies...but frankly, as usual, I am looking more at future guidance then current numbers, and I suspect companies may come in with good earnings, but dampen things by being overly cautious with their future outlook/guidance....we'll see soon enough!
